Alfred Mac Wilson Medal of Honor In Vietnam

Alfred Mac Wilson demonstrated extraordinary bravery during Operation Dewey Canyon in Vietnam, earning the Medal of Honor for his selfless sacrifice. When his platoon was ambushed, Wilson didn’t hesitate—he rushed across open ground under enemy fire to recover a downed M-60 machine gun and get it back in action.

Then came the ultimate test of courage. A North Vietnamese grenade landed between him and another Marine. Without a second thought, Wilson threw himself on it, sacrificing his own life to save his brothers-in-arms.

Born and raised in Texas, Wilson served with Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Marines. His name is forever etched in history at Panel 30W, Line 035 on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
