David Ouellet—an American warrior, a true hero. In Vietnam, he made the ultimate sacrifice, throwing himself onto a Viet Cong grenade to shield his brothers-in-arms from certain death. He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t falter. He gave his life so others could live.
🇺🇸 Honor him. Remember him. 🇺🇸
A proud son of Massachusetts, Ouellet served with Assault Craft Division 12 before training with river boats in San Diego and returning to battle with River Squadron Five. On patrol, when the enemy struck, he acted without fear—shouting for his crew to take cover, pushing his boat captain to safety, and then placing himself between his men and the blast. A Bronze Star recipient, his courage knew no limits.
Ouellet rests in Wellesley, Massachusetts, but his legacy lives forever. His name stands etched in stone on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial—Panel 16E, Row 030—a lasting tribute to a man who embodied duty, honor, and selfless service.
🇺🇸 We will never forget. 🇺🇸
